As with many Caruso recordings, this one sets the standard. I love the sound of the voice during the recitative especially. It is absolutely incredible.

I fully agree with you!
He always WAS the role he sang - and all one-go recordings without any cutting.
His legato was stupendous as beautifully heard here.
It is quite amazing that this Neapolitan - who went to school for just 2 years - still is celebrated by many as the greatest tenor ever recorded. Natural genious.
